What is Creative Enterprise?
Terrain wants to forever destroy the cliche of the “starving artist.” That’s why we’ve created Creative Enterprise, an in-depth, cohort-based training program for artists, makers, and creative entrepreneurs living in, and around, Spokane.
This 14-week program includes weekly classes, one-on-one coaching, peer-to-peer learning, and a proven curriculum that equips participants with the skills to transition their creative endeavors into living-wage small businesses.

HOW IT WORKS
The program is structured around weekly evening classes, with an orientation and graduation Pitch Party bookending the 14-week course. The key takeaway is a comprehensive, actionable business plan, as well as ongoing technical support (think rent negotiations and lease reviews), access to business resources, knowledge about capital opportunities, and exposure of your business to the broader Spokane business community.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Local artists, makers, creators, designers, creative entrepreneurs, crafters, etc. Individuals/businesses that sell things they make vs. re-selling mass produced goods, as well as small community groups and special projects that create unique cultural experiences. Folks with a proven track record, but no physical store — say, an Etsy Shop — are well suited for this project.
We value
Diversity and aim to have a wide-variety of creative businesses led by folks from a multitude of cultural backgrounds, faiths, gender identities, abilities, and economic statuses.
SELECTION PROCESS
When choosing participants, the Selection Panel - which includes local art and business professionals - will be looking for a wide-range of ideas and a diverse group of projects. The most competitive applications will show:
Viability of the idea/business
Strength of product or service demonstrated by provided work samples
Benefit to the community
Readiness of the business and the ability to execute
Destination quality idea/business
++++ Up to 15 businesses will be selected to participate in the program. ++++

HOW MUCH DOES CREATIVE ENTERPRISE COST?
We believe artists of all economic statuses should have access to business training opportunities. As such, we’ve made this training as affordable as we possibly can with program fees largely underwritten by the Washington State Microenterprise Association. THANK YOU! Participants will be responsible for the remaining costs, which are $200 all inclusive.
